Jared Offers Virtual Weddings

The COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing restrictions have resulted in a lot of spring and summer gatherings being cancelled or put on hold, including weddings.

An estimated 800,000 couples have had to cancel or postpone their weddings due to states limiting the number of people who can gather, according to a national jewelry chain.

Jared is offering lovebirds who don’t want to wait for social distancing to end a way to still have their wedding. The national jewelry retailer  is providing 1,000 free ceremonies to couples across the country through an online platform at Jared.com/VirtualWedding.

The company is launching a campaign to promote the effort. It includes social media and a 15-second national TV spot created by Publicis.

Couples can reserve their ceremony date and customize additional elements including invitations, theme and guest list. Couples can also book live virtual consultations with Jared experts for advice on jewelry selection and sizing.

The hosting platform is designed to provide an experience that will closely mirror that of a live in-person event. The campaign theme is #LoveCantWait because the company believes love can’t and shouldn’t wait, says Bill Brace, chief marketing officer and Jared executive general manager.

Virtual ceremonies will begin later this month.

Jared’s parent company, Signet Jewelers Limited, operates 3,200 stores under the name brands of Kay Jewelers, Zales, Jared, H.Samuel, Ernest Jones, Peoples, Piercing Pagoda, and JamesAllen.com.
