Firm Offers A Way To Send Collection Notices By Email

A new tool that allows collection firms to include documents in emails is being offered by RevSpring.

The new solution, eVoke Inbox, enables accounts receivable management (ARM) teams to shift from print to digital delivery of documents, saving money on postage and printing costs, the firm says.

Consumers who open such a document can access a portal for making direct payments or reading other materials, it says.

The company claims that clients pay only for emails that reach the consumer’s inbox.

RevSpring notes that a federal court recently dismissed a class action suit filed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA0, allowing debt collectors to send validation notices by email and remain compliant as long as the letter is in the body of the email.

At least one other decision states that email does not enjoy the same “presumption of delivery” as postal mail when used for sending legal notices. But the trend may be moving toward acceptance of email.

In addition, deliverability issues can “stand in the way of success,” when using email instead of print, states Cheryl Kananowicz, president of financial services for RevSpring.

Kananowicz adds that "without the right expertise, emails may never get delivered to the proper inbox, thereby limiting desired results from the consumer."
