Nissan Targets Young Families With Updated Rogue

Nissan unveiled its 2021 Nissan Rogue, which has been “purposely designed” with young families in mind.

It has “the ideal mix of expressive design, advanced technology, safety, comfort and versatility,” says Mike Colleran, senior vice president, Nissan U.S. marketing and sales.

A "family hub" interior includes such features as tri-zone climate control, which targets backseat passenger comfort.

The automaker says the new Rogue has the most standard safety technologies in its class, and is the latest Nissan model to feature Nissan Safety Shield 360 standard. Those technologies include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high beam assist and rear automatic braking. The 2021 Rogue also offers 10 standard supplemental air bags.

The new Rogue "butterfly" opening front center console allows for easy access for backseat passengers. With the available remote engine start with intelligent climate control, parents can heat or cool the interior before for a child's comfort.

The Rogue crossover is the first of five new or redesigned Nissan models that will enter production in the next year. It follows Altima, Versa, Sentra and Titan, which were all recently redesigned.

The Rogue is “pivotal” to Nissan’s success, says Ivan Drury, Edmunds' senior manager of insights.

“Not only is the Rogue Nissan's most popular vehicle, it also bears the greater burden of bringing customers back to the showroom more than any other Nissan product,” Drury says in a statement. “Since customer loyalty has been a challenge for Nissan, one of the key metrics for the all-new Rogue's success will be whether it can do a better job of keeping owners within the brand. The good news is that as more consumers shop for value during this economic recession, the Rogue's new safety features and mass appeal styling should help draw some eyeballs."

The 2021 Rogue goes on sale in fall 2020, and marketing details will be available closer to launch.
