SendGrid parent Twilio has acquired IoT startup Electric Imp.
The two firms “have been hard at work solving different aspects of the IoT problem, and in our regular conversations we acknowledged how complementary our offerings were, and also how alike our approaches were,” Electric Imp CEO Hugo Fiennes says in a blog post.
Fiennes says the partnership “brings together two critical aspects of IoT: reliable global connectivity and a mature application platform.”
TechCrunch reports that the acquisition took place a few months ago.
Electric Imp, founded in 2011, had raised around $44 million in financing, TechCrunch says.
