Email Startup Scalero Receives $75K In Funding From Indiana University Alumni Program

Scalero, an email startup, has received a $75,000 in funding from an investment program deigned for Indiana University (IU) alumni.

The funding will allow the San Francisco firm to launch its template-building email app in Q4 2020, according to an article posted on the IU website. The firm also plans to hire a developer and a customer-success manager, the article adds.

Scalero was co-founded last year by Will Pearson, an alumnus of the IU Kelley School of Business, and partner Brant Cebulla, the article continues. Since then, the firm has served over 1,000 email marketing claims, the founders claim.

Pearson and Cebulla, who worked together at wine ecommerce site Vivino and were frustrated by the lack of template-building tools, aim to streamline the process for creating emails.

"One thing we have found in common across many companies and industries is that they do not like their process for creating email campaigns," Pearson says. "Companies are left with a fragmented set of tools that do not fully solve their needs."

The funding program, IU Ventures, allows IU faculty, alumni and friends to invest in IU-affiliated enterprises.

"This investment solidifies our engagements on the West Coast and helps to connect exciting alumni back to our efforts in Bloomington,” says Jason Whitney, executive director of the IU Angel Network.
