RNC's Second Night Viewing Up 14% From First Night

The second night of the virtual Republican National Convention grew 14% to a Nielsen-measured 19.4 million TV viewers, for its live program-plus-same day viewing -- 1% more in viewership than the DNC’s second night a week ago.

Eleven networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, CNN en Espanol, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Newsmax and Newsy) aired the second night of the RNC -- the same as the previous night.

Persons 55 and older remained the largest viewing group, up 6% from Day One to 12.7 million. Viewers ages 35-54 grew 21% to 4.7 million, and persons 18-34 added 33% to 1.5 million.

The RNC's second night fell 2% in TV viewership versus the live second night RNC event in 2016.

That year, seven networks aired the RNC event for the first and second night -- ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox Business Network, Fox News Network and MSNBC.
