Sunday Internet Outage Brings Down Amazon, Twitter, Email, Hulu, Other Services

Email was among the many services affected by a massive internet outage on Sunday morning.

A failure at CenturyLink temporarily brought down Cloudflare, Namecheap, Amazon, Twitter, Hulu, the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and several other services, according to news reports.

Overall, there was a 3.5% drop in worldwide web traffic, ZDNet states.

Namecheap’s private email service went down around 8:27 a.m. ET, Bleeping Computer writes.

Cloudflare blamed the outage on network-related issues caused by "a third party transit provider incident.”

CenturyLink acknowledged the incident, blaming it on an error at its data center in Mississauga, Canada, but claimed that all service had been restored by 11:12 a.m. ET, according to the reports.
