Lincoln Project, LMG (PAC) Target Lindsey Graham In Ads

The Lincoln Project has gained national prominence this year as a group of Republicans dedicate themselves to dethroning Donald Trump in November.

But Trump isn’t the group’s only target, as it demonstrated this weekend.

It partnered with a super PAC — Lindsey Must Go — dedicated to defeating Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina). The two groups said they are joining forces on what they're calling a “substantial” TV ad buy targeting Graham.

The first ad developed by the two groups condemns Graham’s hypocrisy for backing Trump's effort to add a new conservative justice to the U.S. Supreme Court with less than two months to go before Election Day. That potential opportunity arose Friday with the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who succumbed to cancer at age 87.

Graham tweeted on Saturday that he’d support “any effort” by Trump to ram through the confirmation of a new justice. Four years ago, as the ad highlights, Graham pledged he would not support a Republican president’s bid to nominate and confirm a new Supreme Court justice in 2020, noting at the time that it should be left to the next president “whoever it might be,” to make that nomination.

“Lindsey Graham has shown himself to be nothing more than a loathsome lackey to whatever influential force he can latch on to,” stated Reed Galen, co-founder of The Lincoln Project. “His unprincipled leadership cannot be allowed to continue, as he’s proven time and again that he’s willing to lie to and forsake the American people as long as it benefits him.”
