MessageBird Snares $200 Million In Funding

MessageBird, an omnichannel cloud communications platform, has raised $200 million in Series C funding. 

The round was led by Spark Capital, with participation from Bonnier, Glynn Capital, LGT Lightstone, Longbow, Mousse Partners and New View Capital, along with existing investors Existing investors Accel, Atomico, and Y-Combinator.

The firm, which describes itself as an omnichannel platform as a service (OPaaS), now has a $3 billion valuation. 

Spark Capital General Partner Will Reed will join MessageBird’s board as part of the investment. 

The money will be used to triple the size of MessageBird’s global team and further expansion into its core markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America. The company is now launching a “Work Anywhere” policy.

MessageBird claims that a true omnichannel experience means shifting consumer engagement away from the “inefficient channels” of email and voice.

One of its products is titled Inbox, which it sys enables brands to share rich media with customers across WhatsApp, SMS, Voice, Messenger, WeChat, Google Business Messaging, Line and Telegram.
