Mailchimp Reports Boom In Client Ecommerce Revenue, Decline In Email Sends

Mailchimp clients have sent roughly 335 billion emails on the platform this year, according to the annual report posted online by the company. That’s slightly down from the 340 billion sent in 2019. But Mailchimp’s client base has grown from 12 million users in 2019 to 14 million this year.

In addition, 36 billion transactional emails were delivered, and $314 billion were generated from abandoned cart automations. And there were 195 billion API calls.

The company handled 515 billion e-commerce orders, adding over $61 billion in revenue.

In this heated election year, 876,684 emails mentioned voting.

Reflecting its corporate culture, Atlanta-based Mailchimp made Election Day a paid holiday and 56 employees volunteered as poll workers.

As employees worked at home, Mailchimp held 86 company-wide events on Zoom, and employees spent 402,453 hours on that platform. Moreover, employees created 43 Zoom backgrounds.

Mailchimp provided 31,000 free domains for five-year periods. Also, it provided a free website builder that resulted in 20,000 sites being created.

In addition, it provided free pricing support for firms hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
