Management Shift At IPG's Orion As McMahon Steps Into Holding Co. Role

There has been a quiet management transition at Interpublic Group’s Orion (part of Mediabrands) which was founded by Brian McMahon 23 years ago.

The company’s flagship entity is a corporate trade agency that exchanges client goods  and services for media time. Over the years McMahon expanded the group to include investment and printing businesses and other specialist firms.

At the beginning of the year McMahon shifted to a corporate advisory post at IPG where he’ll focus on innovation and also advise companies participating in various accelerator and venture programs at the holding company.

Stepping up to run Orion is Laura Ryan who has been promoted to Global President. She’s been with Orion for 10 years and previously ran the company’s programmatic operation OPEN. Earlier she was Global Client Officer and President of Orion U.S.

“Brian brings an entrepreneurial mindset to our business,” said IPG CEO Philippe Krakowsky, “which is a key reason he has been so successful over the years at building and strengthening multiple companies within the group.”

Now McMahon will bring those skills to the broader holding company, “to uncover new ways for us to deliver innovative solutions to our clients,” added Krakowsky.
