Jennifer Klawin, former head of U.S. brand partnerships at BuzzFeed, is teaming with the Golden State Company to launch Emergent Media, a digital media company offering content production, creative and other services.

“Think of us as the boutique hotel of branded content, rather than a large, global hotel brand,” Klawin says of Emergent. In addition to its El Segundo headquarters, the firm also has an office in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Inaugural clients include Mitsubishi Motors, SiriusXM, Vail Resorts, Visit Florida and Givebox.

Klawin spent nearly five years at BuzzFeed overseeing sales strategy and revenue for the company and working with brands across all verticals. Earlier, she worked at Tumblr and Facebook. 

Golden State’s stable of companies includes agency and content studio Moon Tide, ecommerce photography marketplace Driftward, media planning and buying group Media Circus and regional lifestyle publications.
