But either way, they are costly, according to the report, which asserts that 16 minutes of productivity are lost each time they occur.

Working from home isn’t the solution, as the vast majority of leaders (89%) insist that being in the office provides experiences employees cannot achieve elsewhere.

According to the report, the primary drivers for going to the office are changing: meetings (46% today and expected to fall to 35% in the future); to connect with colleagues (39% today, growing to 42% in the future); policy requirement (29% today, 23% future); training (27% today, 31% future); and to use specialized spaces like labs and 3-D printing (23% today, 33% future).

Only 27% of organizations treat the “workplace experience” as a core business strategy.

The Harris Poll surveyed  workplace experience decisionmakers at companies with 500 or more employees. The 1,700 respondents were leaders across four key roles: workplace experience (375), real estate/facilities (441), IT (442), and HR (442) across 11 markets: Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.
