Email security firm Barracuda Networks
Inc. has signed a deal to acquire SKOUT Cybersecurity, a company that provides cyber-as-a-service for Managed Service Providers, the company has announced. Terms were not disclosed.
SKOUT also brings an extended detection and response (XDR) platform to the table. This connects with security infrastructures such as email, firewall, identity and access, and a 24x7 SOC for
detecting cyber-attacks, the company claims
With this acquisition, Barracuda will enable its “MSP partners to deploy “security solutions across their environments, connecting
their data feeds into a unified, 24x7 operation for swift analysis and response,” says Brian Babineau, senior vice president and general manager, Barracuda MSP.
Babineau
contends that “MSPs must be able to protect their customers’ end users, their devices, and the data they are accessing with these devices against increasingly sophisticated
threats”.
He adds that “to achieve this level of protection for their customers, and themselves, MSPs are transforming their businesses
into "security centric" operations.”
SKOUT will also help firms avoid the cost of training and staffing for 24/7 service.
Barracuda also recently acquired Zero
Trust Access provider Fyde.
The SKOUT acquisition is expected to close this month.
