Twilio Unveils Audio, Video Streaming Platform

Brands seeking to engage customers with video have a new tool to utilize.

Twilio has debuted Twilio Live, cloud-based platform that allows users to embed, live, interactive audio and video streaming into their applications.

The solution is designed to help marketers create “personalized experiences for their communities and interact with millions of customers in a fresh and exciting way,” states Hakim Mehmood, GM of voice and video at Twilio.

Mehmood notes the “rise of virtual experiences and the popularity of platforms like Clubhouse and TikTok have signaled the next big channel for customer engagement is live audio and video streaming.”

Twilio Live enables firms to deliver audio and video experiences  tailored for their specific brand and community needs at scale, the company claims. Moreover, Twilio Live provides low latency at scale.

One early user is Reddit.

"We are continuously exploring ways to enhance communities and discussions on Reddit,” states Anand Paka, senior director of product at Reddit said. “Twilio Live has helped our team bring voice to community conversation through our key upcoming live audio feature, Reddit Talk.

“We have been pleased with the quality of the audio capabilities and the proactive support from Twilio that allowed a speedy integration,” Paka adds.

Twilio specializes in communications via email, voice, text, chat and video through API.
