Iris Apfel, Lil Yachty Help eBay Promote Its Watch Category In New Content Series

Fashion doyenne Iris Apfel, who turns 100 later this month, has been recruited by eBay along with Grammy-nominated rap star Lil Yachty to star in a content series promoting the online marketplace’s watch vertical. 

The social-first series, "Old School Meets New School," was unveiled today. It was created in partnership with eBay ad agency The Many. 

The content is designed to highlight how watches transcend genders, generations, styles and cultures as Apfel and Yachty, who is 24, are seen brandishing their favorite watches and quizzing each other on their watch-related fashion preferences. The first episode can be seen here

The spot also conveys the message that timepieces present an opportunity to express individuality.

“This pairing of Iris and Yachty brings two unlikely icons together who have a shared passion for redefining trends,” said The Many’s Conner Needham. “They opened up to each other about their love for luxury watches, which naturally showcased eBay as the go-to destination for all styles of timepieces.” 

The series is the latest effort by eBay and The Many to showcase product-focused categories on the marketplace platform. Previous efforts have highlighted sneakers, with more categories set to be showcased in the coming months.
