Publix Ends Free Prescription Program

Publix Super Markets is ending its free prescription medication program on June 1, according to fliers that the grocer distributed to customers. The medications, including amoxicillin, lisinopril, metformin and amlodipine, will now cost $7.50 for a 90-day or 14-day supply (depending on the drug), with many already covered by health insurance. The retailer debuted the program in 2007 and has dispensed well over 100 million free prescriptions.
