Yum? HelloFresh Revives Buddy The Elf's Spaghetti-And-Sweets Mashup

‘Tis the season for revisiting iconic holiday movies, and HelloFresh is taking full advantage of this timely trend.

The meal kit company is launching a limited-edition kit to recreate the weirdly famous spaghetti-and-sweets concoction Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) first introduced in 2003’s "Elf."

For those who haven’t seen the movie, before Buddy eats leftover spaghetti, he douses it with candy and syrup.

The most recent iteration of the carbs-and-sugar meal—called Buddy the Elf Spaghetti—comes in a meal kit containing Colavita spaghetti, chocolate and maple syrups, marshmallows and other confections.

This video from the HelloFresh in-house creative team and production company Pig Apple shows how it all comes together—including the option of eating the messy meal with your hands, as Buddy did in the movie.

"Through this offering, we're tapping into the fandom of the film while giving consumers a taste of Buddy the Elf’s holiday spirit through his iconic breakfast spaghetti," HelloFresh vice president of brand marketing Kirsten Walpert tells Marketing Daily. "The specialty kit is designed to satisfy your curiosity, indulge your sweet tooth and create memorable moments with family or friends."

Available without a HelloFresh subscription, Buddy the Elf Spaghetti kits cost  $14.99 for two servings. A limited number of kits will be available for purchase on a dedicated landing page each day from Dec. 5-9.

The collaboration is between Hello Fresh and  Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, which pairs brands with various Warner Bros. franchises.

HelloFresh is the leading U.S. meal kit company, with a market share of roughly 70%, according to Bloomberg Second Measure.
