As part of its just-implemented beta launch of subscription aggregation platform +play, Verizon is adding free, 12-month access to Netflix’s $19.99-per-month premium tier to Verizon mobile, and 5G and LTE fixed wireless to those who also sign up for a seasonal or 12-month subscription to one of the other services on the +play platform.
The other services available through +play include Hulu, Disney+, Discovery+ and AMC, with new subscription partners including NFL+, NBA League Pass, HBO Max, Netflix, Peloton, A+E Networks (Lifetime Movie Club, History Vault, and A&E Crime Central), The Athletic, Calm and Duolingo, to come in 2023.
+play, first announced as in development by Verizon in March, lets users manage and pay for multiple subscription services through a hub. The subscription fees are added to Verizon customers’ monthly bills.
Verizon hopes that users who sign up to get Netflix and a second subscription through +play will appreciate the convenience, stay on and add more subscriptions over time. Netflix hopes that +play customers will opt to become paid subscribers at the end of the free term.
Verizon said it plans to expand the +play offer to Fios and other Verizon customers in the coming months.
