A new digital news platform focusing on climate change has been launched by a team of editors, journalists, and media executives.
The new product, Heatmap News, is being backed $4M in funding. The round was led by Autumn Road Capital.
Heatmap News plans to double its staff by the end of its first year from its current level of eight.
“Climate change is not only the biggest story of our time, it’s also the most interesting,” states Nico Lauricella, founder, editor in chief and CEO.
“With Heatmap, we’re putting together a sharp team of climate thinkers and writers who will engage readers with the kind of sophisticated, insider analysis that they find in business, technology, and politics coverage.”

Heatmap Daily, the flagship newsletter, will be sent from Monday through Friday. And the Heatmap website will have frequent postings.
“At a time when we are awash in information, people are searching for high-quality, smart analysis, especially on a topic as complicated, intersectional, and urgent as climate change,” says Randy Siegel, chair and president.
“This will be a tale of visionaries, prospectors, merchants, and frauds; of fast cars, Biblical floods, new fortunes, and a planet remade,” promises Executive Editor Robinson Meyer.
