S4 Capital disclosed in a regulatory filing today that Executive Chairman
Martin Sorrell is undergoing “preventative treatment” following surgery in February to remove a tumor.
The company disclosed in February that Sorrell underwent laparoscopic surgery
but did not elaborate other than to say he was expected to make a rapid and full recovery and continue to be fully engaged in the company’s affairs.

Today’s filing did not describe Sorrell has
having cancer of any kind although The Guardian reported he was undergoing cancer treatment. Company reps could not be reached for comment at deadline.
The filing included a memo
from Sorrell to staffers, which indicated that after consulting with doctors, Sorrell decided “I should have preventative treatment over the coming months.”
Sorrell wrote that during
treatment he should be able to “work as normal most of the time.” But he added, “although I have also decided to reduce my travel schedule for a few weeks. Otherwise, business as
usual.”
Here’s the memo in full as reported to the UK’s Regulatory News Service:
I wanted to update you
following the successful keyhole surgery I had in February, which was to remove a tumour. I have made an excellent recovery, and, as you would expect, I have sought the best possible medical advice.
My conclusion is that I should have preventative treatment over the coming months. My doctors have advised me that during this treatment, I should be able to work as normal most of the time, fully
engaging with the Company and our excellent Executive team, although I have also decided to reduce my travel schedule for a few weeks. Otherwise, business as usual. Thank you as ever for your
continued support and let me know how to help you in any way I can.
