Salesforce Inc. has laid off a small number of employees, presumably going beyond the 10% reduction announced in January, affecting some 8,000 staffers.
The CRM and email provider laid off around 50 sales and
customer success employees in Ireland in a separate action from the earlier layoff, according to Bloomberg.
The layoffs are part of “an ongoing
effort to ensure we always have the right resources in place,” a spokesperson said, as reported by Bloomberg.
In January, co-CEO Marc Benioff
said in a letter to employees: “I’ve been thinking a lot about how we came to this moment. As our revenue accelerated through the pandemic, we hired too many people leading into this
economic downturn we’re now facing, and I take responsibility for that.”
