OMD Top-Ranked (Again) In RECMA's Latest Diagnostics Report

Omnicom Media Group agency OMD Worldwide has once again been named best performing global media network overall in the latest edition of media agency tracker RECMA’s Diagnostics Report.

It’s the seventh consecutive edition of the report that OMD has been first ranked. There are two editions each year. In the spring of 2021 OMD dethroned Dentsu’s Carat, which held the top spot for eight consecutive years.

Rounding out the top 5-ranked agencies in the current report are IPG’s UM, Publicis Groupe’s Starcom, IPG’s Initiative and WPP’s EssenceMediacom.

OMD was top ranked by a significant margin, prompting RECMA to characterize the agency as “one strong leader ahead of a tight agency pack.”

The report also ranks media holding groups, where GroupM is the leader in a tight race with Publicis Groupe. OMG, IPG Mediabrands and Dentsu round out the top 5.

The Diagnostics assessment measures 19 different criteria including “vitality” metrics, such as competitive pitch performance, client portfolio growth and awards, as well as metrics evaluating “structure,” including group-wide specialized resources, international coordination of staff, client relations and data and analytics expertise. Each edition of the report evaluates performance over a three-year period.

RECMA doesn’t release details of specific agency performances in the different verticals it measures — that’s in the full report available for purchase, although you can get a free extract with highlights at the RECMA website

The latest edition, released on March 15, evaluated 684 agencies in 45 markets.
