Lucasfilms "Star Wars" is being
celebrated in a sweet place: Oreo cookies.
As an homage to the franchise, limited-edition "Star Wars" Oreo cookie packs feature original character artwork hand-painted by the legendary
illustrator Greg Hildebrandt, the series poster artist since 1977.
Dentsu handled creative with production partnership from PXP.
There are two iterations of the cookies — red or
blue creme, symbolize either the dark side or light side of the Force — infused with “kyber” sugar crystals inspired by the crystals found in a lightsaber. Fans won't know what they
bought until the package is opened.
There are 20 character embossments, such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul and a stormtrooper for the dark-side pack, and Luke Skywalker, Yoda and Princess Leia
for the light-side pack.

Oreo also enlisted Josh Gad, the
voice behind LT-319 in Star Wars Rebels, the Star Wars animated series, and known Oreo cookie fan, to drive interest.
“Everything that the Oreo brand does is rooted in
our “Stay Playful” creative platform and focused on cultural relevance. Star Wars and the Oreo brand have both captured the hearts of millions in their own unique way for
decades. Oreo is excited to bring something to fans of both the classic cookies and the Star Wars galaxy in a uniquely Oreo way,” Nicole Fischer, senior brand manager, Oreo
U.S., told Agency Daily. “This is the first time Oreo and Lucasfilm are collaborating. We invited fans to “discover their destiny” by opening one of two exclusive varieties.
As a 110-year-old brand, it keeps Oreo top of mind in pop culture.”
The new "Star Wars" Oreo cookie packs will be available for pre-sale starting May 30 at Oreo.com/StarWars. They also
roll out at retailers nationwide beginning June 10. The packs will be available while supplies last.
