Sofia Vergara is very particular about her coffee -- so much so, the actress and producer decided she needed to start her own brand.
The “Modern Family” alum and “Griselda” star is launching ¡Dios Mío! Coffee, a brand name that roughly translates to “My God” in English.
"¡Dios Mío! Coffee comes from my love of Colombian coffee and my high standards when it comes to the quality of my coffee," Vergara said in a statement. "I grew up in Colombia, drinking Colombian coffee. We have spent the last few years creating these blends with an amazing team of female coffee growers behind us.”
In fact, “women represent 30% of Colombian coffee growers,” she added, citing the brand’s intention to “highlight their families and legacies.”
The brand partnered with leading Colombian coffee institution Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (The National Federation of Coffee Growers - FNC), to create three blends the brand says are designed to “pay tribute to the qualities and characteristics of Colombian women,” and is positioning itself in promotional materials as “A Tribute from Latina Women to the World.”

The three roasts include the lightest, “Sweetness,” made from Dulzura coffee, which the brand described as capturing “the essence of a warm 'abrazo de abuela'” -- grandmother's hug.” Its medium roast “Balance” is described as containing “notes of nuts, white chocolate, and brown sugar,” a flavor combination the brand claims was “inspired by the mujeres (women) who gracefully balance work, family, and passion for coffee.”
The brand launched with the three varieties offered as bags of whole bean or ground coffee as well as K-Cup, and Nespresso pods, available via Walmart.com and the brand’s own website.
According to Vergara, the brand owes its existence -- at least in part -- to her inability to find a cup in her neighborhood that she felt was up to her standards.
“Creating ¡Dios Mío! came from personal necessity,” she told People. “I have a very high bar when it comes to my coffee, and I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find quality coffee where I live in LA.”
As People noted in its story, the launch follows Vergara showing off her coffee know-how in a social media post in February for Netflix’s “Griselda.” In the clip, the star identified the brewing methods and type of five coffees she tried.
Vergara is far from the only celebrity to delve into the category. The news comes on the heels of the members of Green Day partnering with Keurig-Dr Pepper to launch Punk Bunny Coffee. It also follows a more bizarre celebrity coffee connection in the recent launch of Rudy Coffee by former New York mayor turned Trump lackey Rudy Giuliani.
