The Mayor Showcases Ted Danson's Charm In 4 Consumer Cellular Spots

Ted Danson is known for his TV work in "The Good Place" and "Cheers," but he's also a longtime spokesman for Consumer Cellular.

The latest iteration of Danson's ad work comes courtesy of The Mayor. The agency won creative AOR duties in March and just debuted its first client work.

There are four spots in the latest campaign: "Tower,""Dancin' Danson," "House" and "Robot."

Consumer Cellular claims 60% of consumers say they aren't in the market to change services, though many are not satisfied with their current carrier.
Hoping to change that, the brand uses humor and Danson to shake people of "carrier cruise control" and suggest they consider an alternative. The campaign shows consumers they will enjoy the same great coverage with Consumer Cellular as they would with the big wireless companies — only for less money.

The first spot to air, “Tower,” explains these benefits to customers. "Dancin" has Danson extol the virtues of the service as he glides across a dance floor with various partners.

The new campaign is running across TV, OTT and social. “Tower” runs exclusively for the next month, with the three additional spots airing in early August.

Previously, The Mayor provided activations for Consumer Cellular's Nascar partnership.

“Millions of people over 50 have stuck with their big wireless carrier since they got their first cell phone. Over the years, they’ve seen bills rise and customer service decline. They’re not happy, but many don’t realize we’re a great alternative. Some think a drop in their phone bill means a drop in their coverage, but that’s not the case with Consumer Cellular,” said Carter Nance, VP brand and creative strategy for Consumer Cellular.

Nance added the agency "nailed the mission" and allowed "Ted's charm to shine through."

Nashville-based Mayor's client roster includes Famous Footwear.
