Campaign Focuses On Electric Vehicle Job Creation

The newly formed American EV Jobs Alliance is launching a campaign that aims to “depolarize” electric vehicles and promote the jobs created by the industry.

The 501(c)(4) social welfare organization is behind a six-figure digital effort to help spotlight the positive aspects of the industry.

The majority of announced manufacturing investments in EVs have been in 10 states, five of which are critical presidential swing states, according to veteran political strategist Mike Murphy, who is behind the effort, which was created by Kensington Ave Strategies, a political consulting firm based in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada and Arizona have 68% of the total swing state electoral college votes. As part of the paid and earned media campaign, these voters, who are going to be critical to the presidential election — along with key Senate and House races — are going to get vital information about the benefits of EVs and why they are critical to the future of American industry, Murphy says.

The first 30-second spot urges viewers to “forget the political rhetoric” and plays up the good-paying, American manufacturing jobs that EVs are creating in Michigan. It will launch after Labor Day and targets 217,000 key Michigan swing voters.

The campaign is expected to expand to additional key EV manufacturing states in the coming weeks, including Georgia, Murphy says.

EV investments have grown to $188 billion and helped create almost 200,000 jobs nationwide, he says.

America is experiencing a renaissance in manufacturing jobs and a key driver of that is EVs, Murphy says.

The ad aims to “remind voters that when politicians mislead voters about EVs, they are hurting American jobs. Nobody wins then but China.”
