There’s no shortage of misinformation out there. Personal finance company NerdWallet claims it can help in at least one area, with an appeal to ““Fact Check Your Finances” with the service.
The ad James Downing (“Fargo,” “Suits”) and Connie Wang (“The Boys”), focused on misinformation prevalent in the financial space. It opens on what initially appears to be a stereotypical portrayal of a corporate CFO addressing the audience, before his story falls apart in front of viewers’ eyes. Near the conclusion Wang, delivers the line,“When it comes to financial advice, listen to the nerds.”
“Fact Check Your Finances” launched Aug. 26, and is running across linear broadcast and cable TV, online video, digital streaming, podcast audio (including the podcasts “Revisionist History” and “SmartLess” ), and social media. This will include running during major sporting events such as MLB and NFL seasons on Fox, during TNT’s October 22 NBA opening game broadcast, and throughout the college football season.

According to the brand, the finance “Nerds” behind NerdWallet apply rigorous methodologies to testing financial products and have evaluated over 1,300 – including dedicating over 27,000 hours to researching and reviewing financial products over the course of the past 12 months.
"Consumers are more focused than ever on finding the best financial options to fit their individual needs, but with the rise of new technologies, it can be increasingly difficult to discern what sources are credible,” said Alison McCoy, NerdWallet vice president, brand marketing, n a statement. "Our Nerds invest countless hours researching financial products, setting us apart from the competition."
