Who Doesn't Love Gen AI? Parents, That's Who

 

It’s no secret that Adland has fallen for generative AI big time given perceived efficiency improvements (creative and media), the ability to generate vast quantities of personalized content at scale and a host of other reasons. 

But parents? Not so much. According to new research from Stagwell’s Harris Poll just 36% of parents think the use of Gen AI tools for schoolwork has a positive impact children’s learning experience.

A plurality (38%) of US adults believes that children under the age of 18 should not be allowed to use generative AI programs in school. Almost half (46%) think it will have a negative impact. 

Nearly 80% of parents feel that children are more likely than adults to struggle with identifying misinformation created by Gen AI tools. 

Regarding technology overall, only 39% of U.S. adults trust businesses to be responsible with handling their personal information. 

28% have a worse opinion of an organization if it is involved in a data security event. 

29% avoid working with organizations that have been involved in a known data security event.
