Airbnb, Toyota, Planet Fitness Step Up To Help L.A. Fire Survivors

Airbnb and Toyota are among the companies that have stepped up to help those impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, which have burned through thousands of acres, displacing thousands of area residents. 

Airbnb.org, in collaboration with 211 LA, is offering free temporary housing for residents displaced or forced to evacuate due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County. A limited number of credits are available for Airbnb stays and those seeking help must first complete an online form to receive notifications on availability.

Toyota Motor North America and Toyota Financial Services also announced efforts to assist.

Toyota is helping via its donations to The American Red Cross and SBP, which both support recovery efforts when disasters strike around the nation. 

SBP rebuilds damaged homes for disaster survivors in select communities and provide one-on-one assistance with FEMA applications and appeals. Other companies that fund SBP include Lowe’s, Reliant, Target, Travelers, UPS, Farmers Insurance, Citgo, AT&T, Amazon and Walmart. 

Toyota also is matching contributions for donations made by U.S.-based employees to support The American Red Cross, SBP and other eligible nonprofits.

Additionally, Toyota Financial Services announced it is offering payment relief options to affected customers. This broad outreach includes any Toyota Financial Services or Lexus Financial Services customer in the designated disaster areas. Impacted lease and finance customers residing in the affected area may be eligible to take advantage of several payment relief options.

Planet Fitness is opening its door to residents, first responders and others affected by the wildfires. The fitness chain is providing free access to locker rooms, showers, HydroMassage loungers, electrical outlets and Wi-Fi. The offer is valid until Jan. 15 at Planet Fitness locations across Los Angeles County that haven’t been impacted by the wildfires.

Even in the midst of the chaos, several LA-based brands also offered what they could to help their community. 

Healthcare apparel company Figs has launched a support initiative for the local healthcare community impacted by the wildfires. The supprt includes providing PPE and essential supplies to hospitals, providing meals for healthcare professionals and their families, sending scrubs to healthcare workers in need and helping with the cost of childcare.

Everytable, which offers fresh meals at different prices based on the neighborhood, is providing food to shelters and to first responders. Mud\Wtr, a coffee alternative, is opening up it Santa Monica offices and parking lot to anyone who needs it. 

Kirsten Ludwig, co-founder of of the LA-agency In Good Co., posted about both company’s efforts on her LinkedIn page. “This is how you build a brand in 2025 — by showing up authentically when your community needs you most,” Ludwig wrote.
