Alix Earle, Other Influencers Star In Poppi's Return To Super Bowl

For its second consecutive Super Bowl appearance, prebiotic soda brand Poppi turned to some of social media’s biggest influencers – including Alix Earle, host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

Continuing on its “Soda Thoughts” theme from last year’s ad, the spot stars Earle alongside Rob Rausch of “Love Island USA” fame and comedian/influencer Jake Shane. The first half of the 60-second spot depicts people in everyday scenarios where people really want a soda but are trying to make healthier choices. Around the mid-point of the spot, they’re presented with a solution: “Get a Poppi.”

Like last year’s effort, the brand worked with Virtue Worldwide.Veteran commercial and music video director Dave Meyers served as director for the spot.

"In last year's Super Bowl spot we introduced the future of soda and put a stake in the ground that Poppi is the better-for-you-soda. This year we wanted to go a little deeper with a powerful consumer insight,” Virtue Worldwide group creative director Nari Kim said in a statement.

“We've all been there,” Kim added, “when you're at the movies, at a party, ordering a burger…and you just really want a soda. But you get stuck in an analysis paralysis because you think soda isn't good for you. Cue Poppi.”

The campaign also leaned heavily into social media, along with Earle’s connection to Carl’s Jr.’s post-Super Bowl free burgers promo. The Super social strategy generated over 30 million views for the brand, according to Tubular Labs.
