KFC U.K.-Ireland 'Believe In Chicken'

KFC's "Believe in Chicken" campaign for the U.K. and Ireland turns fan devotion into two cult-like spots.

The ads, by Mother London, are here and here.

The first turns an ordinary city scene into a chicken worship. The humans seem to imitate the chicken as they walk uncontrollably toward the Believer's Bastion. In the second, "All Hail Gravy," a group that worships an egg totem takes its passion to an extreme worthy of a horror film.

The fully integrated campaign also includes in-restaurant OOH.

Martin Rose, executive creative director of Mother London, said: "KFC is an icon. All of our work respects that. It also respects the audience; they understand that logic is parked for 120 seconds as we go deep into the symbolism of total chicken obsession. It’s a playful escape from the world.”

KFC, originally known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, was founded by Harland Sanders in 1930. The first franchise opened in 1952. The chain is a subsidiary of Yum Brands and includes nearly 2,000 restaurants worldwide.
