Wendy’s is clarifying a social post that took what same fans think is a cheap shot at singer Katy Perry.
"The fast-food chain, known for its salty fries and social media posts, walked back its earlier shade aimed at the ‘E.T.’ singer after posting 'Can we send her back' after the star's appearance on a Blue Origin flight on April 14,” according to USA Today. “Perry fans slammed the sassy social media post, which came after popular account Pop Crave posted on X that Perry ‘returned from space.’”

The star-studded, all-female crew on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin rocket took off in Texas last week and flew for 11 minutes.
“Perry was joined by five other women, including journalist Gayle King and Jeff Bezos's partner Lauren Sanchez,” according to the BBC. “But the ‘Fireworks’ singer's reactions captivated the internet more than others. After landing, she kissed the ground, saying she felt ‘so connected to love.’ King revealed that Perry sang Louis Armstrong's ‘What a Wonderful World’ while in space.”
Wendy's clarified the comments in statements to entertainment outlets.”
"We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy's has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent," reps for Wendy's told Entertainment Weekly and People.
But the snark didn’t stop there.
“Wendy's was seemingly among the ‘haters’ of the recent all-female Blue Origin spaceflight,” according to Newser. “At least one post on the Wendy's X account was seemingly critical of the whole spectacle (‘When we said women in stem this isn't what we meant.’)”
Some media outlets also did not find Wendy’s schtick funny.
“You know that thing where companies pretend to be a real, slightly annoying person on social media?” asks Buzzfeed. “Well, today's drama comes courtesy of Wendy's, the fast food place. It's worth noting that the response to this was pretty divisive, with some criticizing the corporation for posting something so obviously shady."
