A Beer-Flavored Ice Dessert? Peroni Nastro Azzurro's Got It

This summer beer company Peroni Nastro Azzurro offers a classic Italian dessert with a boozy twist.

The Italian lager has launched Peroni Italian Beer Ice, its take on the frozen treat. Traditionally, an Italian ice is made from water, sugar and fruit or flavorings and often whipped during the freezing process, producing a smoother texture than sorbet or a snow cone, per Wikipedia.

But in addition to “hints of citrus and the taste of Peroni Nastro Azzurro,” this ice also contains an added bonus: a 5% ABV, which keeps it purely an adult treat.

Emmy-award-winning TV personality and Peroni spokesperson Giada De Laurentiis collaborated on the Beer Ice and is promoting the treat via social media @giadadelaurentiis.

“Peroni Nastro Azzurro brings Italian style … to the category and continues to find ways to celebrate life's simple pleasures," said Courtney Benedict, vice president of marketing, Above Premium Beer at Molson Coors Beverage Company, in the announcement.

Peroni is kicking off the Beer Ice launch with a Peroni Italian Beer Ice truck, which will pop up July 1 from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Baby Luc's Pizzeria in Brooklyn. De Laurentiis will be on site from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and the truck will offer “select fans the chance to enjoy [the Beer Ice]  just in time for the Fourth of July weekend.”

The Italian Beer Ice is available now in a six-pack for a limited time. Customers over 21 can log on to www.PeroniItalianBeerIce.com to purchase.

The brand is promoting the Beer Ice via its social platforms @peroniusa.

The company Tipsy Scoop, which specializes in  “boozy, artisanal, cocktail-inspired ice cream and sorbet made for consumers 21 and older,” actually produced the Peroni Beer Ice.
