'Saturday Night Live''s Colin Jost Partners With Blue Moon

Blue Moon beer has tapped funnyman and co-host of “Saturday Night Live’”s “Weekend Update” Colin Jost as its first celebrity spokesperson.

Jost kicks off the partnership with the “Nothing Outshines a Blue Moon” campaign, an extension of Blue Moon’s “Made Brighter” platform.

The first spot, “Orange & Son,” seen here, plays on Blue Moon’s traditional orange garnish as Jost faces off with a pair of father and son talking oranges. As Jost compliments the great-looking orange slice on his Blue Moon at a bar, the “dad” orange thanks Jost and informs him the slice is actually a piece of his son (the other orange). Dad then encourages a visibly uncomfortable Jost to “take a bite” of the orange on his beer,  as the father and son reassure him it is an honor to garnish a Blue Moon. The duo proceeds to loudly scream as Jost bites down, then laugh hysterically at Jost’s shocked reaction. As all three chuckle, the bartender eyes Jost suspiciously as the oranges suddenly turn back into inanimate objects.

The campaign was co-created by Jost and adam&eveDDB, using Jost’s production company No Notes.

"(Colin’s) signature wit and charm pair perfectly with Blue Moon," says Courtney Benedict, vice president of marketing for Above Premium Beer at Molson Coors Beverage Company in the release, adding that Jost infused the spots with "his own unique comedic take to really make Blue Moon shine."

In the second spot, “Zoom In” seen here, Jost plays a typical commercial pitchman extolling the virtues of Blue Moon, yet soon realizes he is completely out of the frame, the beer stealing the spotlight.

The campaign features both Blue Moon Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale and Blue Moon Light, and the spots all end with the tag “Nothing Outshines a Blue Moon.” They will run across national TV, social media and streaming services
