Dentsu Creative Adds Mescall As Global Chief Creative Partner


John Mescall has joined Dentsu Creative as global chief creative partner.

Based in New York, he will team with Yasu Sasaki, the agency's global CCO to build a creative community, embrace AI and expand talent opportunities across the network.

Before this, Mescall was global executive creative director and president of the global creative council of McCann Worldgroup and CCO of McCann Melbourne.

“It’s rare to find a global organization so aligned in purpose, yet so attuned to the unique strengths of its local teams,” said Mescall.

His work has earned more than 100 Cannes Lions, including eight Grand Prix, Black and Yellow Pencils at D&AD, One Show Best of Show, and multiple Clios.

“John’s creative legacy speaks for itself, but what excites us most is his ability to unite teams around a shared vision,” said Abbey Klaassen, global president, Dentsu Creative, which launched in 2022. “He knows how to translate big ideas across markets, unlocking the strongest creative thinking from each region.”

Dentsu has begun a strategic review of its business outside Japan. Its client work includes Nutter Butter, No Labels, Nikka Whisky and Ikea.
