Valimail, a firm specializing in zero trust
email authentication and a force behind BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification), has been acquired by DigiCert, a digital trust company.
The merger
was announced on Tuesday. The terms were not disclosed.
As in several other cases, email marketers now have one vendor where they once had two. But the merger places DigiCert into the $4
billion+ market for paid DMARC solutions.
DigiCert is backed by Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. and its affiliates, Crosspoint Capital Partners L.P. and TA Associates Management
L.P.
"Our strategy has always been to expand our platform's capabilities with technologies that solve emerging threats for customers, and we believe that email authentication is the next
logical step for DigiCert ONE,” says Amit Sinha, CEO of DigiCert.

Sinha adds: “Today, the rise of AI and the looming threat of quantum computing against current
encryption have made it clear that the future of digital trust must be built on the belief that every digital interaction requires the right level of protection. Valimail is a leader in zero trust
email authentication, with durable, foundational technology that is essential for securing email interactions at scale."
Valimail is also an early supporter of Domain-based Message
Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC). The company claims to be the sole DMARC provider to have FedRAMP authorization.
Alex Garcia-Tobar, CEO of Valimail,
says: “Teaming up with DigiCert helps accelerate our joint mission globally, aligning with the company’s broader trust ecosystem and ensuring that organizations are secure not
only in their email, but across all their digital interactions.”
DigiCert is a global provider of Mark Certificates and Verified Mark Certificates, both of which power BIMI
when combined with DMARC.
