Instagram Makes User Insights Competitive

Instagram users with access to the platform’s “Professional Dashboard” will now be able to see how their personal in-app performance compares to other accounts, according to screenshots shared by marketing strategist Sarah Roizman. 

Within the Professional Dashboard, eligible users will see a “Competitive Insights” tab that invites them to measure their account performance against specific accounts they can enter manually. 

“Compare your insights with other accounts to learn from their content strategies,” Instagram prompts users in one of the shared screenshots.

Users can add up to 10 accounts to compare their in-app performance to. The results will showcase a variety of comparative statistics, including total follower count, net follower count, Reels views, post views and the number of ads. 

Individual content selections are also available for comparative analytics results, even if the account hides its "like" counts. 

Users are able to select the time period in which they want to see comparison insights. The screenshots show a “90 days” option as part of a pull-down tab for additional choices. 

Not included in the new feature is information on click rates, which may provide users who are looking to boost their in-app performance with a better understanding of how a more popular account built their following.  

It will be interesting to see whether Instagram adds more in-depth comparison options in the future.
