The President of the United States has a great gift idea this holiday season: Watches with his name on them that he is personally selling on TV starting at $500 each.

You can’t make this stuff up. President Trump is starring in his own 30-second spot in which he is pitching a line of “Fight Fight Fight” watches. 

The TV Blog saw it Monday night during “Gutfeld!” on Fox News Channel (not surprisingly). It was the first time I ever saw it, but this may have been going on since at least last year.

You would think that by now, nothing should surprise anyone about this President and his antics. But I was surprised anyway. 

In the spot (screenshot above), he appears onscreen flanked on each side by two American flags and recites the following copy as pictures of the watches are displayed onscreen.

“Hello, everyone. It’s President Donald J. Trump and it’s Trump time.

“Check out this red beauty [picture of watch comes on screen]. It’s one of my new watches. Wear it proudly on your wrist and everyone will know exactly what it’s for, who it’s for, what it represents.

“It’s really going to be something special. It’s for your favorite President. Get your watch today at GetTrumpWatches.com. These make a great gift. It’s Trump time. “

The spot does not mention the price, but the website says $499 and up per watch. Trump’s series of “Fight Fight Fight” watches come in several dial colors, including red, black, Royal Palm and Trump Golden Moon. They are also available in women’s sizes and styles.

The watch faces include the words “TRUMP,” “45-47” and the “Donald Trump” signature that appears on the President’s many executive orders. Some of the watch faces have his face embossed on them.

You can view the commercial on the site, which has (or claims to have) 765 customer reviews -- 735 five-star reviews, 23 four-star, four three-star and three two-star. I clicked on the bars for the four-, three- and two-star reviews, but none of them appeared.

The five-star reviews came up, though. “Love my Trump Watch!” wrote one satisfied customer. “Best Watch I now own. Forget my Breitling, my Tag Heuer, and my Classic Swiss Army Watch from Switzerland. People Love it! The Lefties I know Cringe, Cry out Loud, and Run to their Safe Spaces to be Counseled while eating Ice Cream.”

“This amazing watch is: The GREATEST POLITICAL LEADER this S--- Hole planet has EVER KNOWN!” wrote another.

“Beautiful. I love it!!!! I got the green. Color of money for TRUMP making THE USA. RICH!!! Again!!!!” wrote a woman customer who bought the green “First Lady Mint” watch, one of a line of “First Lady” models for women.

So, what are we to make of a President who sells commemorative watches celebrating himself while in office? 

The TV Blog hereby ventures an opinion: It is inappropriate. At the same time, however, I have no idea if there is anything illegal about it. At the very least, it is tasteless.
