Europe's Effies: Not-So-Grand

In what some might seem as a negative indicator for the state of marketing effectiveness in the European ad industry, the Effie Awards Europe announced their winners this morning, but is not awarding a "Grand Effie" this year.

"The jury collectively decided that this prize should only go to a campaign that attracted unanimous support," the awards organization stated, adding that the decision was made to "raise the bar still further in 2026."

Introduced in 1996, the Effie Awards Europe is a spin-off of the American awards founded in 1968 in New York City to recognize ad campaigns that generated a marketing effect explicitly.

The Grand Effie is the top prize, although there are gold, silver and bronze level awards in each of the categories recognized.

There were 13 Gold Effies awarded this year, including Omnicom's (formerly Interpublic's) McCann unit, which was named "most effective agency network" of the year, and Ukraine's BetterSvit, which was named the independent agency of the year.

Details of this morning's winners can be found here.
