WPP has appointed former Ikea Group CEO Peter Agnefjäl to its board of directors as non-executive director, effective May 11. 

He served at Ikea for two decades, leading the company from 2013 to 2017. 

Since leaving execuitve office, Agnefjäl has served on several boards as a non-executive director including Ahold Delhaize and Orkla ASA, among others. 

As consumer behavior continues to evolve and our clients’ needs grow more complex, Agnefjäl's global experience in customer-centric transformation and operational excellence will help support WPP as it executes the priorities of its Elevate28 [turnaround] strategy,” stated WPP Chair Philip Jansen. 

Agnefjäl will serve on the holding company’s audit committee.
