Chemistry Acquires Creative Agency Colossus, Opens Boston Office

Independent agency Chemistry has acquired Boston-based creative agency Colossus.

No financial terms were disclosed. The 100% purchase makes Chemistry Boston the agency's fifth office in the U.S. No staff reductions are anticipated.

It also marks Chemistry's first major undertaking since partnering with Breakwater Management in 2025 to aid growth.

“Colossus has built an incredible creative business and an exceptional team. We saw an opportunity to bring that talent into Chemistry, strengthen what we can offer our clients and create more opportunities for our teams. We’re not acquiring just to get bigger. We’re adding great people who make Chemistry even better,” said Ned Show, CEO, Chemistry.

Colossus’ expertise is brand identity, design systems and visual narratives. In the past year, the agency added work from Adobe Acrobat, Wellness Pet Company, Kayem and Astound Broadband. Now, its clients gain access to Chemistry’s integrated capabilities.

“From the beginning, Chemistry felt like the right fit,” said Jon Balck, managing director, Colossus. “We share a belief in distinct and effective work. Joining Chemistry gives our team and our clients access to so much more without losing what made Colossus special in the first place.” The three founders of Colossus are now partners at Chemistry.

Chemistry Boston joins the agency’s existing offices in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New York and Miami. Clients including Coca-Cola, Marriott, Salesforce, Netflix and the NFL.
