Indeed, Fox Seek 'Chief World Cup Watcher'

Are you a lifelong soccer fan with on-camera charisma, journalistic integrity and a knack for a savvy Instagram post? If so, Indeed thinks you may be just right for a dream job at Fox Sports — one that pays $50,000 for six weeks of work. Whoever lands the Chief World Cup Watcher post hired through Indeed will spend the entire tournament from the first kickoff to the final trophy as the official voice of fans, reporting live from a custom public viewing studio in New York's Times Square. The lucky candidate gets to watch all 104 games.

The "We're hiring a chief (whatever) officer" gimmick is a familiar ploy. But for Indeed, it's a serious B2B push, highlighting how effective the platform's new AI tools are in job matching. Indeed's Smart Sourcing platform now includes Sourcing Assistant, which acts as an extension of the recruiting team, building a pipeline of high-quality candidates and delivering completed applications directly into the workflow. In initial testing, Indeed reports that candidates engaged through Sourcing Assistant are hired 31% faster than those from other sources.

With the World Cup Watcher recruitment push, "we saw this as a way for us to showcase that we can solve a real problem," says Jennifer Warren, Indeed's global vice president of brand marketing and creative. "This is just a dream partnership for us. We can help Fox find and hire this highly specialized person in a very high-profile role."

Combine that with a chance to connect Indeed's name to the biggest news of the summer, and "this makes so much sense for us, and helps us build our brand relevance, participating in such a big cultural moment, versus just running some broadcast advertising or putting our logo on a sponsorship."

Indeed also benefits from more people posting profiles on the platform, which already boasts 645 million users. Warren tells Marketing Daily the company expects thousands to apply by the May 17 deadline. Applying is straightforward: Make sure your Indeed profile is set to "employers can find you," then post a short video using #ChiefWorldCupWatcher to show the Fox team your content creation skills.

"It's a pretty cool job," Warren admits, "and this technology will help Fox — and any company — get to that short list of candidates to interview a lot quicker than before. Success is Fox using our Smart Sourcing Assistant and finding the exact right person for this role. And when we see that person succeed? That would mean we at Indeed have done our job."
