Singer, Actress Miley Cyrus Gets Barbie Treatment

Mattel is expanding its Barbie signature Collector lineup with a new release honoring Miley Cyrus, the 33-year-old Grammy-Award-winning singer, songwriter and actress.

The doll, which debuted Tuesday, celebrates Cyrus' "evolving career across music, film, and pop culture,” according to USA Today. “Following the release of her ninth studio album, 'Something Beautiful,' and receiving her Hollywood Walk of Fame star this year, Cyrus continues a transformation that stretches far beyond her early Disney ‘Hannah Montana’ era.”

The doll is available at Target, Amazon and Walmart for around $60.

“The Barbie is dressed in a head-to-toe faux leather outfit,” according to KTLA. “The biker-inspired look includes a bralette, narrow-leg pants, and a belted jacket with an oversized hood. The doll also comes with black high heels and a pair of cool sunglasses, which can be worn over the eyes or on the doll’s forehead atop its highlighted brunette hair.”

Cyrus is a Barbie fan herself and has a collection of ones that portray musicians like Stevie Nicks and Kylie Minogue.

“Cyrus worked with the Barbie designers at Mattel to create her vision for the doll, ‘down to the shape of the shoe’ and ‘the hair dimension,’” according to Billboard, which shared an exclusive video of Cyrus with the doll. “And the singer says she made sure her signature Barbie was holding a microphone. ‘That was very important to me,’ she says in the clip, adding that ‘having this microphone is so representative of not just the music but of having a voice.’”

The pop star’s fans are ‘losing it’ over the doll, according to Rolling Stone

“Soon after the release, the fans took to the internet to gush about the latest release, as they gushed about the doll,” according to Newsweek. “One of the fans reflected, ‘this doll looks like it's about to drop an album, not sit on a shelf.’”
