A new Reuters/Ipsos study shows that a bipartisan majority of Americans support more government rules for social-media companies. Of the consumers surveyed in the six days ending August 3,
61% said social-media firms need stronger oversight, including required age-verification tools. This included 71% of Democrats and 62% of Republicans. But support from independents was lower because
many are unsure where they stand.
