B2B marketers face many obstacles to
getting their emails opened. One, of course, is finding the right recipients. Now there are even tougher challenges resulting from the entry of artificial intelligence into the inbox.
We’re not talking about AI-suggested replies or conversations being summarized. This is about AI-managed mailboxes, where autonomous AI agents determine how a message will be handled without
a person seeing them. They can qualify prospects, schedule meetings, route requests and determine if a human being should even see the email, ZeroBounce reports.
"For years, email validation
has answered one question: Can this email address receive email?" said Liviu Tanase, founder and CEO of ZeroBounce. "As AI changes the way organizations communicate, another question
becomes just as important: Who's receiving the email?

ZeroBounce is now offering to help B2B brands detect the existence of these agents. The goal is to
“understand how that email is likely to be handled after it arrives,” says Liviu Tanase, CEO of ZeroBounce..
This is “valuable intelligence for sales,
marketing, customer success, and anyone communicating at scale."
ZeroBounce uses mailbox intelligence and provider signals to identify two types of AI-managed mailboxes:
1. AI Agent
Mailbox: Valid email addresses that appear to be managed by an AI agent.
2. Catch-all AI Agent Mailbox: AI-managed addresses hosted on catchall domains.
ZeroBounce’s
AI-managed detection, which is now available to all customers and users, provides B2B teams with greater visibility into how a company processes incoming email, the company concludes.
You can
bet there will be more discussion of this problem in the months to come.
