Party political committees will receive cheaper rates for advertising thanks to a Wednesday decision by the Supreme Court, The Hill reports. Both parties will receive the cheaper rates,
but the ruling is seen as a victory for Republicans as they try to raise money for the midterms. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented. Lower court judges told the Federal
Communications Commission that it should act quickly on a challenge by Democrats. But the Justices said that was “inappropriate,” the decision says. “Our system of separation of
powers does not allow the Judiciary to meddle in ‘the workings of a coordinate branch of the Government’ in this manner,” the decision says.
