MTV Remix

This spring, MTV Networks boasted it was operating 230 targeted microsites with plans for more. Sometimes it seems the network has as many digital managers. Recently, it promoted Jon Slusser to senior vice president of Spike digital and video games, overseeing the integration of iFilm and Spike TV, and Gametrailers.com, while Erik Flannigan became executive vice president, digital media.

It doesn’t end there. In June, MTV promoted Dan Hart to senior vice president and general manager of MTV Digital. He reports to Christina Norman, president of MTV, but also works under Courtney William Holt, executive vice president of digital music and media for the music group. And don’t forget Mika Salmi, MTV’s global digital media president.

Got all that? One former executive says during his tenure MTV issued elaborate titles without any clear structure. “I think it has gotten even more confusing,” he says.
