Video ad network Tremor Media and video-based e-commerce network ExpoTV have teamed up to let advertisers incorporate product testimonials into online ads. Through the
partnership, advertisers on Tremor’s network of more than 800 sites can embed ExpoTV’s “Videopinion” user reviews into display ads.
ExpoTV,
which bills itself as “YouTube meets Consumer Reports,” allows consumers to submit and share video reviews of products in a range of categories including kitchen products, consumer
electronics, entertainment and travel. The company is touting the new service as a way to harness the most brand-friendly user-generated content.
So far, the company
has amassed a catalog of more than 150,000 Videopinions. Tremor is offering the reviews at no extra cost to marketers. “This is a way for advertisers to think of new and different ways to use
video online and incorporate the brand ambassador concept of social media into their advertising campaigns,” says Tremor spokesman Corey Kronengold.
ExpoTV is
available through cable operators, including Cox Communications, Charter Communications and Comcast, as well as online. The company is backed by venture capital investors including DFJ Gotham
Ventures, Masthead Venture Partners and Prism VentureWorks.
