Former HBO chief Chris Albrecht has brought on two former colleagues to join him at IMG as he looks to ramp up content production in his new post as head of global media and entertainment there.
The 20-year HBO veteran who resigned in May has tapped Carmi Zlotnik as head of global media operations, and John Penney as head of global media strategy, making them the latest
additions to Albrecht's team since he joined IMG in September.
IMG, a long-time sports marketing powerhouse, is looking to move farther into the entertainment realm, although it still works with
athletes such as Tiger Woods and Roger Federer.
Zlotnik's duties will include oversight of creative execution and fiscal performance of all production, including IMG sports operations. He also
had a 20-year run at HBO, where he worked on original programming--including production oversight of hits "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City."
Penney's role at IMG includes searching for global
expansion outlets and other new business opportunities. At HBO, as senior vice president, advertising, he supported broadband channels.
"Carmi and John will help lead the way and set new
standards for our company," said Albrecht. "With a full slate of offerings and exciting deals in a rapidly evolving space, we are poised to take IMG Media to the next level."
Albrecht resigned
from HBO after an alleged assault incident involving a girlfriend in Las Vegas.
